Fegime Becomes Global

Grupo REDELEC becomes member of FEGIME

At their General Assembly in Munich the members of FEGIME unanimously voted to accept the application for membership of Grupo REDELEC Argentina S.A. Their membership will start from 01.01.2019. But the new colleagues’ ambition does not stop here. In the near future they want to expand not only nationally but also internationally on the South American continent. To accommodate this, the new organisation’s name will be FEGIME LATAM.

Through the addition of Latin America the number of FEGIME member organisations will increase to 19.

Redelec was founded in 2001 and has long since established itself as the biggest group in Argentina with a market share of ca. 35%. It currently has 15 member wholesalers with a total of 30 outlets and 1,000 employees. The group is active in all the business areas of our sector and already does substantial turnover with several FEGIME Preferred Suppliers.

The contact between the groups began over 15 years ago when founding members of Redelec visited FEGIME members in Spain for an exchange of ideas and best practices amongst independents. The result was a very similar group with a similar vision, philosophy and mission – a solid foundation for working together which was already strengthened by Cooperation Agreement in October 2016.

Vice President of Redelec, Pablo Balán, said: “I am delighted that we have been accepted as a member of FEGIME. I am convinced that this step will be a game changer for our market – and also those of neighbouring countries. We are already in the process of linking up with like-minded, independent wholesalers in Uruguay, Bolivia and Peru who we expect soon to join FEGIME LATAM. In this way we will all gain from the exchange of ideas and best practices within FEGIME.”

Nikos Kafkas, President of FEGIME, added: “Our Argentinian colleagues are a close-knit, highly motivated and dynamic group. I look forward to working with them in the future and learning more about their numerous projects. We have a lot to offer each other and we will all benefit from this new alliance. As will our partner suppliers of course. We are now opening up a whole new continent to them.”
